講演題目:Quantum communications using colour centres in diamond
Abstract
Colour centres in diamond are emerging as one of the most promising solid-state platforms for quantum communication technologies. These atomic-scale defects in the diamond lattice, such as nitrogen-vacancy (NV) and silicon-vacancy (SiV) centres, can act as stable quantum emitters and spin qubits, enabling the generation, manipulation, and transmission of quantum information event at room temperature.
This talk will explore how colour centres combine long-lived spin coherence with efficient optical interfaces, making them attractive candidates for quantum networks and secure communication systems. Key topics will include the physical properties of diamond defects, single-photon generation and applications for free-space quantum communications. In particular, we will focus on a new protocol to generate single photons controlled by micro-wave in NV colour centres. The talk will provide an overview of both the fundamental science and the technological developments driving diamond colour centres toward practical quantum communication applications.
