Title : World-wide accelerator-based light source developments for a new era of X-ray science
Abstract
One of major applications of particle accelerators is to provide brilliant X-ray pulses for a variety of researches ranging from cutting-edge materials or biological science to industrial and even cultural purposes. These years so-called future light sources, which are expected to provide order-of-magnitudes brighter X-rays than ever, have been proposed and developed over the world. In Japan, a big light source project is expected to start this year, and another bigger one will likely start after that, aiming at a new era for X-ray science and other applications. In this talk, current activities and future perspectives on the world-wide light source developments will be presented.
